The Criminal Justice Caucus’s blog is now being featured on the “Social Work Resources” on the Office of the Appellate Defender (OAD) website.
OAD is a not-for-profit law firm that provides legal representation to indigent individuals convicted of felonies in Manhattan and the Bronx. According to their site, “once their appeals are heard, some 10 to 15 percent of OAD clients are found to have been wrongly convicted or sentenced to unduly harsh prison terms.”
OAD’s Social Work/Re-entry program focuses on providing direct service social work assistance to clients being released from prison. OAD has been hosting Columbia interns for many years and CJ Caucus Graduating Representative Stephanie Stroh (’12) and CJ Caucus member Katie Mulcahy (’12) are currently placed there doing great work for their clients.
OAD can also be found on our Resources page along with many other links to useful information and potential referral agencies.
